Middlesex Fells Reservation-Skyline Trail

I am really liking this hiking thing. It is just walking on steroids depending on the area you choose.
I was a little stressed out about money, my shortened kid-free weekend and the fact that I was going alone. This sort of pushed me to go. It would just cost the gas. I needed to do it alone. I may have lost my partner in crime but that didn't mean I needed to lose the activity. Hiking my ass off would  help.
I packed food, various clothes and had all the apps for the route.
Hahaha!! Until I go into this place . I had decided to take the longest trail, the most obscure and the longest. I had printed maps which I left in the car. Now I am deep enough in I am not going back and I realize I am out of cell service. Typical of me. So worried about it for days before and now I say fuck it. I just follow the white blazes.
I will admit in certain places deep in the woods where the mountain bike trail would cross over the Skyline the white markers were tough to find but it made it interesting.  This one was in the beginning and easy to find.

Soon I found it was just me and the hills, bridges, leaves and a few people. that is when I started to let go of the tightness in my chest and let my brain start to unravel. In a good way, don't worry.
I started to think about how I need this kind of thing in my life on the regular and if I can't get the kids to like it now they won't be able to do the big hikes when they are older. I also decided that I can do it without them if need be. I can't compromise what makes me happy for them. I just need to find the time on my own.

So Google it if you want to know more. There were people, dogs, runners and bikers. I didn't see many on this trail but when I crossed over the more mainstream trails there were tons of people.

It was like being on vacation for a short few hours and I was back on Cape for the kids by 2pm.
