I spent a lot of my childhood hiding. Not wanting to let people know about what was really going on in my life. It has made me a fantastic actress I think.
Helpful in this job when I need to be interested in every person who walks in the door and all of their bad life decisions. Oh how I would love to say well if you hadn't fucked that up you wouldn't be here now but anyway.....
I lay it all out there now. Probably even more than people want to hear or know but I think it has gotten rid of people I don't need in my life and it has gained me some incredibly deep relationships with people who get me and my "stuff".
I am grateful for this.
It is correct in the fact that it helps wash away a lot of resentment, anger and bitterness. For me mostly because once I say it and you share your side then I find out it was nothing like what I had planned on your response being. I'm a little more cray, cray in what I expect people to say. I expect the worst mostly.
To go along with this, My Bestie and I have talked about planning for the worst. What is the worst that can happen? Is a common question. If the worst it tolerable than why not just say it. If the worst happens oh well you knew that could happen. I have found most recently that the worst never has come out. I have been pleasantly surprised more than once.
So hang your dirty laundry out people.
You may gain some insight about the people in your life that you never expected.
You may also gain some new people that respect your bare honesty.

I admire your fortitude! I need to be able to say what I think, without worrying how it might effect others! Even as I say this, I am my own worst critic!
