I have said before - I want arms like Michelle Obama.
Then again so does everyone else now that we have seen them plastered all over magazines everywhere. In any case I have been reading a bit about how to improve on my running and the funny thing is a lot of it has nothing to do with running. It is also about improving on other things.
I found a website that is all about the Couch to 5K but not Cool Runnings so most of it is free. I followed a link to a training program for a 10K that I think I am going to try.
It explains training to do on off days that will help improve my running.
I am not up to the running suggested on this plan as I am still working on getting back to running the distance of a 5K but I figure I can work on the other things.
So Monday is supposed to be Stretching/Strength. I followed the links and was taken to 2 sites showing 6 simple stretching and 6 simple strength exercises. I felt pretty weird as I don't own weights but it gave the option of using a can of soup or bottle of water so that is what I did. Ava found this hysterical and kept stealing the water bottles.
It included mostly upper body exercises but also some lunges and crunches. The last time I did a crunch was a million years ago but I get on the floor and humph....What the Hell?? These hurt and can I even do a full sit up? Struggling. So I did 2 sets of 15 crunches and 2 sets of 15 sit ups. Not a lot but to me it was like a marathon. I guess this is going to have to be a regular thing.

1. Michelle Obama is beautiful.
2. I love that they have committed 1100 square feet of the White House Lawn to a vegetable garden.
3. That 10k program looks great!
4. I don't think I can do a full sit up. Not sure my back could take it. So is there an alternative or are crunches enough?
5. You might be able to find some light weights on Craig's List or at Play It Again Sports. I also got one of those big inflatable balls cheap at Target, I think. I like it as it helps my lower back.
6. I am looking forward to integrating Cat's strength training program into my week. I can already feel results from the tiny bit of intro stuff we did last night, so I can only imagine how the full workout will feel.
So, I'll be looking forward to our helping each other along the way to the Falmouth Road Race.
Which one of us will lose a toe nail first?? ;)
