My goodness I needed today and the last few days actually. In the grand scheme of things these are small hits but after a while it's like can something smooth out for me please.
Let's start with the no patience for this body. My knee didn't seem to be getting better and then I sprained my ankle. That really put a kink in my plans. The fear of once again falling was not good.
BUT.....
I made myself run last week. 2 miles and I kept my head down the whole way. I find the need to keep an eye out for any bump, crumb or uneven surface in the pavement. It was slow but I did it.
Then I hit Physical Therapy. Told him I was not feeling it so he decided to try something new. He taped my leg. The goal is to keep the hamstring muscle long. I will admit I was unsure. I have about 12" of tape down the back of my leg and this is supposed to do what? Well I did a 4.5 mile hike around Long Pond after that and shit if it didn't feel pretty good.
Yesterday I reported the possible success and he taped it again. I said I really wanted to run again and he said Yes, Like tomorrow.
So we have caught up to today.
My car brakes have been just not right for a while. Yesterday I think I finally have all the issues fixed and as soon as I pick it up from the mechanic a new scraping. ( See what I mean?) Anyway I brought it back this morning so he could quick fix it and took a run. A 2.6 mile run that felt pretty damn good. My eyes were on the road but a little less. My anxiety was melting away with every step.
The car is good, the running is good. Today is shaping up to be a pretty good day.
I decided to take Lilly back to the Falmouth Friends of Dogs. We are coming up on her 1 year Adoptiversary ( you like that word?!?) Kathy was happy to see her and she got tons of lovin'.
On the way out I decided to check out the woods from this side. I have been wanting to hike the Moraine Trail in Falmouth and this was an entrance for it by the Brick Kiln Rd highway exit.
I am always amazed how you can drive by a trail everyday and not notice. Also when you step into the woods it's sometimes like walking behind a curtain. Regular life>>>>Magical woods.
I was quickly surprised. The pines were so tall and green and I love a narrow trail made for 1. Lots of fallen trees to step over and birds chirping. There was highway noise too but tolerable.
Waiting patiently for her tourist Mom who is taking pictures.
This sign made me laugh. We did a little loop of about a mile and this was at the other end but shortly after we entered this trail which is pretty narrow we came upon this car. Obviously old and had been there for many more years than the sign. Like you smash into a tree in the woods and just leave your car there? I guess so. I just hope everyone made it out okay.
As I made my way back to the car I was thinking again about a plan to go end to end.
Please don't be surprised if I call you and ask for a ride one of these days. Amazing how cool it is to be lost yet in your own backyard.
Now for a dog nap.
