I myself have never been to a "meet and greet" never mind one on a 20 degree night but what we won't do for our kids. She loves them and they were coming to a little town just off the Cape. We were there an hour before the doors open and it already looks like we should have sent up a tent at 8am.
So after waiting about 45 minutes I get a call from our friend who has been in line since 4pm and says I CAN SEE THE DOOR! but I am still about 75 people back and they are running late. They won't be here for another hour and a half but they say they will see everyone. At this point we are 100's of people back. I mean like hours. They send some poor cop to the end of the line and have him turning people away as it is getting too big.
This is a lousy picture but the line snakes around and down the side of this mini mall to the back door. At some point I notice a man and a group of about 6 police officers walking along the line. This is not going to be good. They get to our section and say they are now extremely late and the cut off point has been moved up to the corner which is like 75-100 ahead of us! They are expected to be 2 hrs late and can't possibly see us all.
Explain this to a 7 year old who is freezing and standing on the side of Route 6 for an hour.
So I could not just take her home. Mama's heart was aching for her. We went to the Mall and it turned out to be a great time. She bought a beautiful dress for a Baptism we have this weekend and some lip gloss to go with it. We giggled over nachos and I learned alot more about her way of thinking.
She wants me to fall in love. How sweet! Until she follows that up with because maybe I won't holler so much. So I holler alot? Yeah. I promised to work on that for her.
We were home late, to the point where she just needed to rest her eyes a bit in the car. Of course the little one was awake when we got home as well because she never goes to bed alone.
This lead to a running late day for us all but it was worth it. It is always an adventure in our life.

Where was this non-event? Leave it to men to be late. Not sure how to get around the thing at school. I guess in the future, try to make everything a surprise. Kids are mean sometimes. Sadly, many never outgrow it.
