I came upon a guy who was was selling T- shirts. He was telling people as they walked by that we could read his story on the cards on the table. I had just arrived and was a little rushed so I figured this was the first step for me to take a deep breath, relax and enjoy myself. The story made me smile.
He was selling T-shirts and donating his profits to Hope In Bloom. Hope in Bloom, based out of Dedham, Ma, plants gardens free of charge at the homes of people undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Awesome Cause!
He explained that normally he donates money to Cure Search for Children's Cancer but just for this week proceeds would go to Hope in Bloom, how appropriate.
The story behind the shirts was equally neat. The phrase actually came from a small chalkboard hung over the door at his Grandmother's cottage. He has unfortunately lost both his Mother and Grandmother to cancer. This is the way he continues to spread the message to others to live each day to it's fullest and appreciate the life you have.
It is a phrase I believe more people need to live by including myself. We are all working so hard towards a better tomorrow that we fail to slow down, take a deep breath and just enjoy today. Someday there may not be a tomorrow and that can come at any time.
So maybe we just need to smile and enjoy today.
Smile It's Today - "The message is a reminder to live life in the moment, appreciate what you have and to live life to its fullest. Not only did our grandmother write it - she lived it and passed it on to every generation in our family thereafter.
We lost both my grandmother Mame, and mother Lee, to cancer before their time. Through it all they kept smiling, enjoying life's moments and inspiring those around them. Our family started this company in their memory, keeping their spirit alive and to encourage all people to find their laughing place.
Remember that each day is a gift - so Smile it's Today
10% of all net profit goes to cancer Research."

I believe it's Loretta LaRoche that says something like "Today is a gift. That's why they call it the present."
:)
Good quote to remember!...reminds of the one that goes something like "It's the journey, not the destination" (Unless of course you are super religious and believe the other way around) :)
A positive attitude helps to start and finish a day! Mr G reminds me of that on the rare occasion that I wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Thanks for inspiration for a new mantra :-D
