My Escape

It was AWESOME!
It is going to be a long post so go get a cup of coffee and I will wait.
OK you're back....Here we go.
I started my day off rough. Why is it when I have plans the kid who has been sleeping mostly through the night is now up 3 times during the night? When my alarm goes off at 7:30 she is back asleep. Great! I am a grouch-I admit it. Just eat your breakfast and lets get this shit storm rolling.

First order of business is Ava's field trip the the Falmouth Fire Station.

It was much better than I expected. We actually had 4 different fire fighters show us different things as they were super busy and our tour guides kept getting called away. At 1 point 2 of them told us to move to the lawn and they jumped into the ambulance and took off. COOL! We missed seeing it but we got to see lights and sirens.
Once we were done there I dropped Ava at Gramma's and headed to Boston. It has been a tradition that I go to the Boston Flower Show for I don't know how many years. Last year they cancelled the whole thing due to the economy and a problem with the venue. Anyway they are back and better than ever.
What I need for this Blog post is Willy Wonker's Smell-o-vision. It was the best part and I can't even describe it with words. It was Earth. I mean they truck in dirt and trees and plants and flowers so it was just awesome to all of the senses.
A perfect part for me was the display of Garden Cakes. Everyone knows I love cake and this was a group of garden and flower inspired cakes. So to add to my dreaminess (Yes, I make up words. I can it's my blog) was a small area with the smell of cake. Honestly is there anything better than Spring and cake? NO!

I was happy to see many of the regular vendors there from years pass but luckily I left without spending much money. I do have 10 Lily bulbs in my hot little hands that I want to get in the ground right away.
The day was beautiful so I was walking back to my car and decided it was a crab cake sort of day. I couldn't have been in a better place as right across from the parking lot I see The Barking Crab. I will say this-I will be back there and on a hot date with my hubby. He will love it. The menu started with some appetizers that made a perfect lunch for me but went all the way to a 10lb Lobster !!!! It is basically some picnic tables on a dock.
The waiter told me if it was just about 5 degrees warmer they would have rolled up the sides. The sides were made of clear heavy duty plastic so you could enjoy the view but not freeze your tootsies off. The tables were set with buckets of plastic silverware, a roll of brown paper towels and a large rock for smashing. It was funny as I was sharing a table with a couple that ordered a Lobster boil. I almost lost my drink when he started bashing his lobster with this mini boulder.
At this point in the afternoon it was actually earlier than I had expected to be done so why rush the trip home right?
So where does a girl with no kids and about $40 left go?
I actually shopped the whole store. I have never even been upstairs except for lunch. It is always a hurry up and get out type of trip. I did it and survived with nothing to speak of besides some bed linen for the kids. Oh, well I tried to spend money, really I did.

So now I am home. Tired but happy. I missed my hubby today and it made me think about how we need to do more of these adventures together again. As you may have seen in my last post Nana has offered to watch the kids for us and I WILL be accepting that offer.

My advice is~if you can-GO to the flower show.It is a great Spring jump start that made me want to get into the dirt.
