Last weekend I decided to try this hike I had been reading about in a woman's hiking group I joined. It was a 12 hike loop but they had vans about every 2-3 miles with snacks, water and rides back if you needed it. I thought this was a great idea for the longest hike I had ever done.
The day was beautiful. The area was beautiful.
I will say I was a little overwhelmed with the amount of people. I love being outdoors but like the quiet. Listening to the leaves under my feel and the wind in the trees is a big part of it.
I also needed some time in my head and the woods is good for that.
As we started out we were on a single file path and soon I found myself tucked behind 2 older gentleman who wanted to chat about real estate.
I just couldn't so I popped in my head phones and Lady Gaga took over for a little while. Soon we moved onto a more conventional dirt road and people started to fan out.
I soon found my niche in the front with 4-5 other people from hiking clubs in Northern Mass and Rhode Island. We covered some ground pretty quick and after reaching the first stop we moved ahead without a break. Conversation started but at a level I was happier with. We shared stories of hikes and other adventures.
This was more what I was looking for.
This Fire tower was pretty cool but about 10 miles in and I decided not to take the trek to the top. All those stairs and the height might have been the end for me. Good place for a rest while others checked it out.
This place is huge and I was happy to have a map to maybe return with Lilly.
I was a little confused on the route and was happy they extra marked it with neon pick signs and tape. Also we were told we were allowed into areas not normally open to the public including a gun club.
I prefer not to be hiking around so much gun fire.

It amazes me the things I have never heard of in my own back yard. Looks like a great place!
