Monday Olivia shipped off to the national Seashore for the 5th grade rite of passage trip that I have heard so much about. I, myself lived in Worcester and missed this trip. She states with the whole I think I have strep throat the night before but she headed off with her bags packed the next morning. Dropping her at the curb was so not a good Mama experience.
The good news is Wednesday I packed my lunch and rode the empty bus up to Wellfleet for the return ride home. I got to see the house and it was awesome. We loaded up on the bus and headed to the White Cedar Swamp for an hour hike.
Beautiful! The boardwalk was still pretty snow and ice covered in places that the sun just didn't reach. I really would love to come back when it all thaws out. I learned what Wintergreen looks like and saw berries that are only found here and in Canada because they were brought down by the glacier. I'm pretty excited to know this stuff now.
I missed this muffin very much and this is how she rode home while the rest chatted like crazy. First question she asked was about Lilly and said how much she missed her. She also held my hand through the whole hike even though I tried to give her her space to be cool with her friends.
When we got home she came for a walk with me to the cranberry bogs
to stretch Lilly's legs and pointed out the plants that told us we were near fresh water.
Love this girl.
