Happy in your own skin

Yesterday I had a teacher conference with Olivia's teacher. I was curious how she has been doing. She is a good kid and trying her best but still drifting off when overwhelmed and in full classroom situations. Sort of what I expected to hear. Her reading is still struggling but some number ( I don't even remember what) has tripled. Excellent but still under grade level. I am just happy to hear it has improved 3 fold.
I also just sort of laid it out there that we are at our max level of work. I personally can't do any more and I feel like she is cooked too. She is in a classroom with kids more on her level and then she is removed from the class for 2 30 minutes extra help sessions a day for reading and math where she looses science or computer and is taken away from the classmates.
I get it, she needs help but sometimes you just need to give the girl's brain a break. She has other life lessons to learn and just have some fun. She is still a kid.
Last night I had her read to me out loud and she hates it but she does it because she does what she is told. My fear is that she will lose self esteem because she is always playing catch up. I really don't want that to happen.
We all need to be content that we are doing the best that we can do.
I want to raise good people not just good students.
