This was one of the busiest weekends I have had in awhile. I had big family plans that included lots of pregnant woman and babies. My sister in law had her baby shower for her 1st baby-Liam due on Christmas Day! Then Sunday we had Darricen's Christening and another big family gathering after. Both days included a lot of time with my ex's side of the family but I luckily have a great relationship with all of them. Saturday was a little rough as I had to see a few people who hadn't seen me in awhile so I was forced to talk about "it". I try very hard not to get into our issues in front of the kids and I feel like this may have happened. The road is ok but has it's bumps and I am angry so I admit I was a bit of an angry beaver that day. You can only tell the story so many times before you get pissed off. Hey ,we are doing good. Kids were good and I am great. Take that!
Saturday night the kids each had a sleep over with friends and Chelsea and I headed to Providence to the International Beerfest. What a frigging good time! I guess we were thinking it was a good way to try a million different kids of beer and expand our horizons. It would be a road trip and we are about that no matter what.
One of the perks which we had not even thought of-BOYS! Guess what, boys drink beer.
Once we got our tickets and we proved to security that we were over 21 (LOLOLOL) we were in line to ride the escalator to the Fest. This is the line above ^ . It didn't take long for us to realize that about 90% of these people were men. Most of the women were with boyfriends or husbands. We basically walked into the Freakin' Mall of America of Men! They were of all shapes and sizes and most of them smelled really good!
Some more highlights were the fact that we got served Pumpkin Beer on tap out of a Giant Pumpkin from this VW camper. Perfect! We also got to try some Shipyard Blueberry Ale which was delish and now to locate that on little Cape Cod. We also found out we are not fans of anything dark or called stout. That might be the same thing but I have no clue. I am essentially a beer virgin here. We even tried a Chocolate Stout hoping the chocolate would be good to us but again -no. We skipped anything we can get anywhere like Coors and Corona and Twisted Tea. There was supposed to be food but that is where they lacked. The pizza was great but other than that they had a couple of food court type things which we avoided.
We were able to be back on Cape at a respectable hour and continue our fun until we turned into Pumpkins at 1ish. It was definitely a good time that should be repeated next year with a bus load.
Now just can we cook up for this weekend???

A good time! IMHO, darks and stouts need to be 'chewed'. It's similar to wine tasting only not as snooty. I like a good chewy dark. And if you have a big honker like mine, you can actually pick out the subtle tastes like chocolate, or caramel. That said, I only like them once in a while. A good ale or lager is my preference.
