I am always blabbing about the treasures to be found on Freecycle so I figured I would show my most current find.
I saw a post for a bookshelf that was used for toys. It was described as made of real wood. There was no picture so I asked how big it was. 59" Hmmmm.
I borrowed a truck and went to pick it up in the rain.
It was just as I pictured. It was painted white and all wood except this piece of fake cardboard/woodish backing that wasn't attached. I took it just as to not leave her the trash but already decided to leave it open.
It is real wood and heavy. She was kind enough to help me load it into the truck and we were on our way.
Once home it needed a quick wash down as it was left outside under the eve for a while.
I had bought a quart of pink paint for the 1 funny triangle wall that you will see behind the bookcase but never got to it. Instead I decided it would be great for this project.
The kids and I painted it ourselves about a week ago.
We were using this awesome toy box made by Uncle Jerry but it is just a pit when it comes to little toys like Littlest Pet Shop and Matchbox cars. I decided to purchase a few smaller totes and sort it out so we could find stuff easier.
You can see the end result. It ended up being a bedside table for them both and a toy extravaganza. I love seeing how different the sides are if you look up close. One side is a Barbie bin, purses and My Little Ponies. The other side is bins of Spiderman toys, Matchbox cars and her Little People camping set.
Freecycle also helped me get rid of some old fish tank stuff. I think it will be 10 years before I will have a large aquarium again. He was happy to take it off my hands and I didn't put more stuff in the dump.
Go Freecycle, you rock!!!
