Today we decided to play hooky from swimming lessons at the pond and go to the "real" beach. I needed to get this tan back in shape and play in the waves. Today we packed the cooler, loaded up the floats and headed to Old Silver Beach. I have to say I think today was the best day at the beach all year. There was just enough breeze that you didn't feel the heat and there was not a cloud in the sky. We met our friends in our regular spot and there were enough kids that they entertained themselves while my oldest friend and I were able to spend a great afternoon ourselves. The only thing that could have made it better was a few beers in the cooler but it was a work day for us both-maybe another day.

The waves were big enough that Ava and I could jump and get knocked over while Olivia and Kylie surfed in the tube out on the sandbar. No Hermit crabs could be found so they worked feverishly to find a few small regular crabs and a million snails. When we left we passed our finds onto other kids that were lucky enough to stay.

As we were trying to wind down the day I wanted to get a picture of the girls and I. As you can see Ava was a clown and Olivia was a crab. These photos make the best family memories. I remember my Mom wouldn't even try to get you to smile, she would take the moping pictures as well as the smiling pictures so we could look back and remember the good and bad. I think there is a picture of my sister and I sulking in front of the giant globe in Epcot. What a couple of brats we were.

Now I am in my oh, so sexy polyester uniform with a nice pink tan quietly tucked under it and the salt air still in my head. More days like this are needed.
