Blogger

What kind of Blogger do I look like?
I decided to join Blogher the other day. I don't know why, maybe to learn more about this Blog thing I am doing more and more. I started off over a year ago by explaining I was just going to ramble to myself because as most of you know I do talk a lot. It is even worse now that I drink coffee.
I was asked to list the type of blog I have-I dunno.
I started to look thru the categories:
Mommy - Doesn't feel right. I bitch and whine or puff my chest with pride, not exactly the picture perfect Mommy Blog.
Food - Still doesn't feel right. I cook to eat and frost it if I can.
Garden - Hahahahahaha!! Yeah right, next.
Weight loss surgery - Call me the anti-poster child. I would rather blog about frosting.
Running - that is another short lived past time that others have grown to enjoy and I loath. Back to the frosting.
So I guess I am a bitching, dirt covered, cake baker that will only run if we are headed to Cupcake Charlies.
Hope you enjoyed tonight's post and come back and read some more.

Sandwich Bazaar

These 2 pictures are our set up. We have a 10X10 tent over head which helped keep us out of the overcast but still hot sun. Towards the end we took it down as the wind kept it dancing and we didn't think to bring any tent staked to hold it down. It was like the Wizard of Oz a few times with other peoples tents blowing over and tumbling about.
It was a very laid back and very busy little place. We got there at about 7am and the place was already bustling. You could tell the Antique people, they are No Non-sense and scanning as they rush by. They didn't even look at us but most did leave with an armload of treasures. The other vendors were friendly and helped us get our tent situated.
I was not very successful myself but had a great time and I hope to do it again.
I did get a chance to walk around so I posted some of the neat things for sale. I forgot to get his picture but there was a great Farmer's market where we picked up some fresh corn and zucchini for dinner tonight.

If anyone is local and interested it is on Quaker Meetinghouse Rd in Sandwich - Wednesday mornings from 8am-noon. I believe they are running until early October.

Garden update

Dad cut down the huge Crab apple mess that was taking over the garden. I will miss the pink blossoms in the Spring but it was getting a little out of hand.
These are our first gems. I ate some today while making a salad and they are super crunchy. While washing them I realized I do not need to clean them like hazardous material because they grew right out back - in my yard - I saw them. No plane flew over and sprayed, no bags of XXX were dumped in the soil-Just East Falmouth dirt, some duck poop and plants-Yum!
I am looking at a few squash plants with many flowers but no sign of a squash yet. Soon, soon I hope. The tomatoes are coming along as well, lots of little green babies and flowers too.
That feels pretty good. I do want to make it bigger and better next year. Let me change that last. I don't think it needs to be bigger just planned better for space. I keep taking pictures so I can remember the space needed for plants so I hope that helps. I am also thinking I can move the cukes to the back and they can spread their legs out into the area that used to be Crab Apple Hell.
I would also like to add some Sunflowers. Everybody needs some sunflowers.

Teeth cleaning for 2, please

They went in with white teeth and came out with these fangs!!
I had to take the girls to get their teeth cleaned today. All was fine until it was Ava's turn and she was not having it. I reminded her of the prize basket, stickers and new tooth brush but she still crossed her arms and said-NO! The hygienist was patient and had her sit in a little wooden chair and actually did the exam and cleaning while she craned her neck back. Not the best option but it got the job done.
They left with pockets full of crap like a new tooth brush, rings, bracelets, stickers and even these fancy fangs.
I like this Dentist don't get me wrong but I don't like paying. I had insurance when we started and I only had 1 child now I am a bargain shopper. I am looking into the fact that Health Insurance may pay for dental care until a child is 11 years old. This would involve changing dentists to a Fang-less doctor but Mama needs to buy school clothes and today I was told she needs a new filling and 4 sealants (for the low, low price of $180)
Sorry Mrs. Fooseberry you make too much money for any assistance although you have only $3.76 in your bank account. Have a nice day!!

Angel

I have decided that this child needs to be introduced to the World. She rushed into the world on March 16th when Mom and Dad were not quite ready. She was sent to Boston but she wasn't down for that so she ate and grew and ate and grew and finally they just threw her out. Go Home!!
She is now a hefty 14lbs and doing well.
After my Mom babysat her at our house the other night she forgot her baby doll. My oldest daughter had one of these named Rusty and we actually had to buy 3 Rusty's to make sure he was always available. According to Mom she has been a wreck without her. I guess she really missed her because this is the photo I got today from her Mom when she finally got her beloved baby doll back.
I will update on Baby Shea as often as I can because I think she is going to be famous some day and I want to be part of that. BTW she started being called Baby Shea or Shea Diamond by my daughters and Baby Shea seems to have stuck. Maybe her Hollywood name will be Shea Diamond-Who knows?

Ebay Listing Again.....

I decided to put out the $3 and try to post my bags again. I listed both the regular bags and some Tooth fairy bags. I guess I am hoping to make a few bucks on something I like to do and something I have already put so much time into. I currently have 27 bags made and about 12 more that are cut but need to be assembled.
As I type this I can hear a not so positive twinge in my voice but what the hell, right?
So on a better note-
COME-CHECK THEM OUT!!!!

Lay's Hell

Lay's Potato chips proudly supports my ass.

I am on my 3rd bag-A small 1 oz bag - but I should be having like......None, so 3 it 3X the legal limit.
Put the cuffs on me and drag me away to a place where chips, soda and candy don't exist.

Can you please forward me the number of a dentist that will wire my jaw shut-
Fooseberrypie@gmail.com
Thank you for your help with this matter.

Tooth Fairy Bags

I decided today to try to get some of these put together before Wednesday's Sandwich Bazaar. I checked out the weather and it shows chance of T-showers at 30% so I am going ahead with the plans. My Aunt is going to come help me set up so I plan on bringing my 10' tent to keep me out of the rain or sun which ever occurs.
The top photo is the one I posted about in June that I made for my daughter when she lost her first 2 teeth. I am going to try to make some boy ones as it seems they need a choice too and fairy's are not very interesting to the boys I know. I have some tropical, trucks and pirate material.( Thank you Lynn!)
I have about 10 cut, now finding the time to get them sewn.

Weighty Secrets

All Alone Today

Dad took the kids out to do some errands so I took off to do some of my own. This never happens to me. I was able to get a baby shower gift and hit Walmart without a scene or a spanking. Hallelujah!!!
I have now gotten my sewing stuff all torn apart and reassembled back into the bag. It was so bad that the sewing machine was on the floor next to the bag as I just threw everything back in the last time I used it. See I really never get any time to do anything I want to do for example sew. I get it all unpacked and then a child needs something or I need to watch them do something or worst yet-Mom, Can I sew something?? So the last time I used the machine to make the tooth fairy bag I think I just swiped the whole lot off the table, into the bag and threw it back into the closet.
I am also a sap so every day my kid comes home with papers, drawings, anything made out of a paper towel roll and I can't throw this shit away. It is over taking my closet like the blob. It is starting to flow out-UGH!
Project #2- Sort the whole mess out and I got it down to 1 box labeled Preschool and Kindergarten. Now to pack up the trash before she gets home to give me the whole - MOM, that is the most important piece of art IN MY LIFE. You can't throw it away.
I wish the wood stove was lit I would just burn the evidence.
So in a little over an hour I have gotten done what would have taken me a day or two had they been home.
Now off to get their party clothes ready. They are rolling to a baby shower with Dad while I fight crime.

Friendly's in the Summer

I love Friendly's in the Summer. We went after supper and camped on the lawn. We watched all the tourist traffic go by. We even saw a giant million person van with trailer on the back, for a moment I thought it might be Kate plus eight minus Jon (LOL!) but it wasn't.
The kids even did some rolling down the hill. It was a great way to enjoy the Summer. We need to find more things to enjoy the terrific place we live.

Sandwich Bazaar

Today I decided to take a ride out to Sandwich to check out the Sandwich Bazaar. I was thinking about renting a table to sell some of my bags.
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people and vendors there. It is tucked on Quaker Meetinghouse Rd just down from Stop and Shop. There were plenty of signs and a line of cars trying to turn in so you could not miss it.
It opens for set up at 6am so I wanted to make sure it was worth dragging my butt out of bed. We arrived just before 10am and the above photo is what it looked like.
Plenty busy enough for me!!!
I will also be bringing some Sea glass jewelry from my Aunt and hopefully some of Bonnie's Super Cool things too.
I am thinking the more the merrier and the more people at the table the better.
I will keep you posted.

Beach Therapy

Future employee of Upper Cape Ready Mix-She will take over Grampa's route when he retires.
Here they are searching for crabs at Old Silver Beach as the tide rolls out.
Doesn't this look just sum it all up.
I have decided that everyone should have a mental break at the beach. My friend called this morning to say she was playing hooky on swimming lessons in the pond and she was going to the beach-the REAL beach. I was all about that. We were just getting to the Sandwich Bazaar and had planned on coming back for swimming so we had the car all packed anyway. After a quick walk through of the Bazaar(post to come on that) we hopped in the car and flew to the beach. After being there for about 45 minutes I have decided there is no better therapy than the beach.
Unfortunately I had an appointment and had to leave at 12:30 but 2 hours is better than nothing.

Relay for Life

Chelsea just found this great picture of our evening team. I don't think I got one of us at the start. We look a lot better than the ending team photo that is for sure.
Thanks again to all our team members that came through for us and walked from 6pm until the next morning.

Here are some from another walker that are mostly taken in the beginning set up stages.

We hope to have a bigger team next year so put it on your calender in June 2010.

Sad gardener

I am almost just embarrassed to even post these. We started late. We tilled the ground and added a load of "duck poop" and then it sat. One weekend my husband threw some veggies in the ground.
We left on vacation and have been busy ever since. I spent a lot of time this past weekend pulling out a bunch of grass as it is growing faster than any vegetables.
At first I had wanted to make a raised or even sort of boxed in garden to give it a clean edge and try to control some of the weeds but that never happened so now I have this gross semi-garden.
I never knew how dry and rocky the dirt was either so the quality of my veggie is not going to be good I am afraid. I did pull up some leaves and catch a glimpse of some small little cucumbers and a handful of cherry tomatoes.
Rain is supposed to come so maybe that will help.
Do you think I can still add some sides and ramp this half hearted garden up or am I doomed for this year?
I need to go to some links on Frost Bottom farm's site for some advice.

Extra Money

Always on the look out for extra money and having time on my hands at 3:50am I have found some interesting websites.
I am seriously looking for a local craft fair to try again to sell my Berry's Bags. I never got a call back from anyone for one this past weekend but I may try to get to the Sandwich Bazaar on a Wednesday. The only bad part is it opens at 8am and set up starts at 6am. Hey, who needs sleep right?
I see some people are making a killing at selling guides on how we can make money. I just found a website with almost every home based business and the guide to start it-
Soap making
Cake decorating
Daycare
Pet sitting
Party rental
cookbook writing.
You name it they sold a book on it, now that is a smart business person.
I have started thinking about a second job again as money is tight and I can't seem to stretch my few dollars any farther.
Any ideas?

Midnight Overtime Shift

These shifts are brutal if not prepared.
I did not get enough sleep last night. (bed at 1:30 am and awoken at 6am with requests for breakfast) After a bowl of Fruit loops and the TV babysitter I managed to get about another 45 minutes on and off. I napped for 2 hours after lunch so so far, so good. I do have 8 hours left so the quality may decline rapidly in about 4 hrs. My friends that do this all the time have my respect and awe. I could not do this all the time. First of all - I am starving and I have a yogurt and a small amount of cheese and crackers left. Not good with a hellish vending machine out back. Good part is hopefully no one will return so I can never get to the m&m's in that machine. I am looking for a pizza delivery if you know of anyone in Mashpee.
I have 2 more devilish shifts coming up in August as this seems to be a sign of the times. You just can't work enough in my world. Next time I will make a pot roast and bake a pie.
Hold on I just found a Click shake in my drawer-WOOT!!

She is off

We started out on this contraption this morning. I thought it would give her the feel of the 2 wheeler but with some stability. We rode from our house to Dunkin Donuts and got Dad a coffee and we rode home. She was so excited and kept calling it a 3 wheeler. I guess that is what it is.
The bike is great Joe-Thanks again.
When we got back she wanted to try the 2 wheeler again and basically just took off without a second look. She now wants to ride from our house to Goodwill Park for swimming lessons. Just so you know that is about 3 1/2 miles from our house. I had to break it to her that I think that is a bit too far. This was her for about half an hour. She rides down the street, slams on the breaks so she skids a bit then gets off the bike and turns around to come back. It is pretty funny but at least she has the take off down pat now. She has been ready for a while but nervous. The excitement and pride on her face after she realized I was just walking next to her was awesome. She skids to a stop and is yelling. I was doing it myself?? - Yes the whole way from Darius' house-OMG that is Fantastic.
No folks she is Fantastic!

2 Wheeler

Today the girl asked to try out a 2 wheeler. We have one already so we didn't have to remove the training wheels from this bike. I was thinking she can go back and forth while she learns.
She did it a few times back and forth, up and down the road and did great. I was so proud of her but also giggling as I did things I am sure parents do all the time. I pretended I was holding on and even touched her back but she was doing it all alone. I was so proud of her and to see the look on her face when we got back to the house was awesome.
I promised her I would work with her tomorrow and I am thinking of taking her for a ride on our tag-a-long bike so she can get the feel for the 2 wheeler but have some help too.
I am always surprised that my heart doesn't burst during times like these. I love to see them both learn, grow and make huge accomplishments like these. As I am sure you can tell by these gushing blogs.

Day at the beach......again

After a near DSS visit I loaded the kids in the car and headed to Wood Neck Beach. It is a resident only beach in Falmouth and will always be my favorite. My Nana took me there when I was little and I even had my senior pictures taken there in High school.
There is a little side river that is shallow with sand bars at low tide and it is the perfect place to catch crabs so bring your net. We had a bucket with about 30 mini hermit crabs. The family next to us had multiple nets and had real crabs.
I joked with the girls that it was going to be called crabby beach because it is the place where we collected crabs and also where we lost our crab (meaning Ava's attitude). Of course now they thought this was hysterical but at home everything was a crying whining nightmare. I may just set up a tent and live at the beach.
At about 3:30 I noticed a missed call from my Mom. When I called her back we set up a plan to pick her up(she does not have the required beach sticker) and she came back for about another hour in the river. It turned out to be a great night. We ended with a bit of food shopping and an ice cream.
Summer is flying by so you have to grab these moments when you can.

I don't want to do it

I am now living in the-
-My feet hurt I can't walk
-My stomach hurts I can't do it
-Just plan No Thank You
World.
I am so sick of it today I have been yelling and need a day off. Wait didn't I just get back from a vacation?
I think we still have 5 weeks or so and I am done with the don't look at me, she touched me, I don't want to motto around here.
Is there boot camp for 3 year olds?
I think I am just going to start giving it back.
Mom what is for lunch? *whine* My stomach hurts I can't.
Mom can we go to the beach? No Thank you.
This is a classic. Girls pick up all the toys you just threw on the floor. No Thank You. At least they are polite while they tell me to piss off.
I am now being dragged off the computer to play scavenger hunt which I don't want to do.
What is my reason?? My head, ass, foot brain hurts. Sorry
To top my fucking fabulous day off my sister just walked in to tell me Ava just wrote all over my window sill with a Sharpie Marker. FML!

Pajamas, TV and Bed

This is what I am supposed to do.
I am tired. The Beast is back. She was doing excellent and now that we are back from camping she is aweful again. She is hitting, kicking and throwing things. When you try to correct her she screams in your face and I think she was almost going to bite me today. Not having it.
She is currently in her room in another time out. That will be like the 4th today including a couple of spankings.
Around wrangling her all day we did do a quick trip to the pond for swimming lessons and I got my front and veggie garden all weeded. I have noticed after any exercise if I cheat I crash so now I am fixing a blood sugar of 58 thanks to a couple hershey kisses and the exercise of weeding. Then I am going back to what I am supposed to do-Pajamas, TV and bed.
After I grill up some steak and chicken for dinner-Yummy. I'll call it-Brown chicken, Brown cow instead of surf and turf.
