The Clydesdales are Coming

The Clydesdales are coming to Cape Cod.
They will be at the Kmart Plaza on Rt 132 in Hyannis Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9-6.
They will also be at various other locations on Thursday and Friday from 2-6pm. They will end up in the Chatham Main Street parade on Saturday.
We are taking a Foose Holiday tomorrow and might try to get there to see them in the afternoon.
I will post some pictures of us if we can get there and it isn't raining AGAIN!

Free Pumpkin Patterns

A friend sent me this link to a Jack O'Lantern book you can order and download for only $5 but even better she offers about 2 dozen for free.
She has some really spooky and not spooky patterns to make an awesome Jack O'Lantern.
Check it out here-

OVERLOADED!!!!

This is the best depiction of the current status of Fooseberry. One more thing and I think I may just blow a spring. I think if you look back I posted about this a while ago. If nothing else I am excellent at taking on a huge load, taking myself to the edge of an explosion and then I expel some stream (beware of how close you are to me when this happens) and then I resume with my normal life again.

So today was that day and I am sad to admit I let it go to this point again but I haven't figured out a better way just yet. I knew it was coming as I have had a few run-ins with some Reese's Peanut Butter cups. Nothing that put me in touch with my glucose meter so I am lucky there. I would say the poster board of resources that I had to make during my prep for Gastric Bypass isn't working. We had to come up with alternatives to relying on eating during stressful times. Yeah that stuck!
So my husband has a new orifice that I chewed for him but the steam level is back to a tolerable level and I am currently eating homemade beef stew and not candy.
On with the show.....

Just Ask Earl....

Please cross your fingers and toes !!!!
We are hoping that Earl will be using the contents of his tool box very soon. He went on a job interview today that he believes went well. It is what he likes to do but a 45 minute drive. If it works out maybe he can get that motorcycle he has been wanting to help cut down on gas.
I will share the good news as soon as I know. So again cross your fingers, light a candle or rub the Buddha belly if that is your thing.

I need a costume people

I actually have a place to go for Halloween this year.

I am looking for a costume. Most are Ho costumes with my not so attractive a$$ hanging out or they are like a full nun dress.

This may not be funny to most but it is a hysterical joke among my friends so I propose this....

This is Mary Catherine Gallagher and she is from a hilarious SNL skit and movie "Superstar". It is a direct view into my sick sense of humor.

One of our favorite places

After the long day on the road I called home to find nothing in the works for dinner so it was the perfect excuse to let someone else do the dishes.

One of our favorite places that excepts Ava's high pitch screaming and running around is Betsy's. I love this place. The bakery case helps with my love affair. The food is always good and they know us so they have seen us since the babies were babies and now they order their own food.

The place is decorated with typical diner and some art by local artists.

Walk From Obesity-$575.00

First I want to say THANK YOU!!!
Although the tally next to my posts shows something else I was able to raise $575.
It doesn't show the last few donations I got in today.

Yes it rained but they provided these really sexy ponchos which were kind of like a plastic sandwich bag. If you turned your head you could have suffocated. It rained a bit on and off but we got in the 2 miles we had promised to our pledgers( is that even a word?)
Melting brought some cool presents for all our team members but unfortunately not all of them could make it. It turned out to be a great idea to make some random people hula hoop and she gave them our extra prizes.

It was a great day even though I overslept and was about 50 minutes late picking up my partner in crime for the day. We got there in plenty of time to meet up with our team and some other great people from other teams. As an added bonus we got to take a short trip to NH thanks to my oh so great driving skills.

Again Thanks!!! For more photos follow the link-

Freecycle

Today I ventured out in the pouring rain to meet another person on Freecycle. If you aren't into Freecycle- check it out.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Freecycle_Cape_Cod/

People list items they have to give away or things they want. It is a great way to recycle things and keep them out of the dump. I have given away tons of plus sized clothes after I shrunk a bit, some baby items and all of my maternity clothes. These items were picked up by local people and not used for profit from some company off Cape.
I was also able to avoid a yardsale which was my intent but I just couldn't find the time.
So go and check it out. You do have to join the group and although this link is to the Cape Cod group there are Freecycle groups nationwide.

Walk from Obesity

Unfortunately this is what it is going to look like.

First I want to say Thank You to all the people that donated money for the Walk from Obesity.

The bad news is there is a large storm coming and the rain will be coming down in buckets. The walk organizers are posting that they will provide rain ponchos. It looks like I will need to bring my freakin' rubbers. The good news is I will be traveling alone and by alone I mean no complaining children. I am not sure how this happened so smoothly but it took a near hurricane for me to get out without them.
I am planning on picking up my partner in crime for the trip and I have my glucose tabs and $40 for bail and that should cover any emergency we may have.
I will post some pictures of this adventure later in the weekend when I get back and dry out.

You still have time to donate your pennies - Just follow the link on my sidebar.

Thanks again everyone!!!

Spiffing up the place

Last night when I got home from work for some strange reason I decided to paint my toe and finger nails purple. I rarely ever do this so I am not sure where this is coming from. To continue the spiffing up I have added another column to my blog. I like the 3 column much better because it allows me to spread out my blabbing and gives me more space to post embarrassing photos of myself and family.
Check out the map on the left. It is supposed to mark where people are coming from to look at my blog. I have been able to see it myself on site meter but now my friends and family can too.

I am trying out some new things so bare with me.

Update on the Road kill diet

So far so good...
I am now blending up some veggie for the dog. I know like I need another project.
He is doing well and acting less of a jackass. He is still smelling donuts but I can't expect a miracle.
I have hit a serious chicken sale at Shaw's and am bagging my own raw meals for the freezer. It takes some time initially but now I am set for about a month.
I didn't want to gross you out so this is the photo I will share.

Picture Day

Halloween Carnival

I just made my reservations for the Halloween Carnival at the Heritage Museum in Sandwich. It is supposed to be great and sells out every year.

Wanna Come??

It is $8 per person if you are not a museum member.

I may not be here for Halloween so I want to do something awesome with the kids as I love Halloween as much as they do. Go to the link and it describes the activities as not scary so I think it will be good for small kids too.

The Dome Restaurant-Woods Hole

This is a place that I always thought was so neat. I had been there for dinner when I was a teenager but did not know what became of it, I just know that it closed.

I had the opportunity to see it today and actually go inside. It was sad. The building is so damaged and striped. It is a cool place that is so 70's.

I found an excellent picture in it's hay day and a great article about it's restoration.

1st Dance Class

Today was Olivia's first day of dance lessons. She is taking a combo-tap/jazz/ballet class so she can try it all and next year go with what she likes best. I think the 1.5 hr class was a little long as her attention seemed to fade by the end but she was still dancing around just to her own drummer.
The teacher is great and I got to talking to some of the Mom's so the time passed pretty quickly. She had a great time. She woke me up at 8 this morning in her dance leotard telling me to get up as it was dance class day.
I hope she stays interested as she looked like she was having fun and the teacher-Miss Kim-was great. I don't know that I would have that much patience with 12 little girls all jumping around.

Mark your calenders-Pumpkin Day @ Bourne Farm

Sat., Oct. 11, 2008 9am – 3pm Bourne Farm, 6 North Falmouth Hwy., West Falmouth Pumpkin Picking, Hay Rides, Face-Painting, Canoe/Kayaking, Bake Sale, Petting Zoo, Crafts, Lunch Available, Fun for All… (rain or shine)Free Parking Click HERE for directions to Bourne Farm. All Proceeds to Benefit Bourne Farm, a property of Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries, Inc. (508)548-8484

Can you believe these are from last year. Olivia is like 2 sizes bigger and Ava has a foot more hair. Her attitude has grown also. This is so much fun but come early as the pumpkins get picked over quick. They have tons for the kids to do and a tent with food so you can have a picnic.

Don't forget your wagon!!!

Mashpee Firefighters 5K Race

This running thing has really gotten a boost lately around here. We are all setting a goal to be road race ready by October 25th for the Firefighter's 5K.

Want to come???
http://www.mashpeefirefightersroadrace.com/

It started with a few and now has grown to a bunch of us and our family members. Some of us are runners and some of us are still in training to someday be runners but we will all be happy just to cross the finish line and enjoy the party after.

We are looking for a slogan or name to put on our shirts- Got any ideas??
Not too serious and not to cheezy - what can you think of ?

So join us for a 5K and a beer after the race at the Raw Bar.

BARF Diet

I hesitate to share this but I obviously post about everything else so leave if you get a vomit taste in your mouth.

I have started to feed my dog a raw diet. He came to us in June on a raw diet and I promptly put him on a store bought dry food as that is all I know.

Step 1- Rip open bag

Step 2- Pour a cup in his bowl

Step 3- Repeat 2X a day forever.

He is now eating meat of all different varieties and freaking loves it. I am still investigating the fruit and veggie side of it and I also need to buy some supplements to add to the food but so far so good.

In an effort to keep costs down I will be removing road kill on the way home so if you hear of a deer in the road call me- Just Kidding!!

So just what have I been doing you ask??

As I last posted the gypsy camping parade made it's way back to Cape Cod safe and sound and in one piece. All hangovers had passed and the only thing left was the laundry.

I had a huge grand plan of things to do. What did I do- nothing great. I had a birthday party to go to in the middle of the afternoon Saturday which was a nice relaxing party but right in the middle of the day so that cooked Saturday. Sunday we were planning on running the Falmouth Mile but it was pouring and they were still running but the route was puddle after puddle so we nixed that.

On a better note and more important to me is the fact that I totally de-dust bunnied my own room. I moved furniture, I cleaned places that hadn't seen the light of day since we moved in( 3 yrs ago-ICK). Then I got the grand idea to finally paint. We used about 10 gallons and painted the whole upstairs this cheap flat white paint just to get it cleaned up to move in. I had painted the kids room years ago but you know how it is- My room just never got done although every room in my house is some color. I did this while the kids slept so that meant Saturday and Sunday I was up until about 2 am but it is fantastic. I no longer feel like I should be wearing a straight jacket to bed. I still want to paint the trim and ceiling (we are in a cape so the ceiling is 50% of the room) a creamy white called "steamed milk" . This should tone down the last remnants of the bright white and it will be complete. I know this may take 3 more years but hey we have a 30 yr mortgage.

I also decorated for Fall as I like to decorate for the seasons once Summer is over. I dug out all the leaves and fake pumpkins. The real ones will be added after the Pumpkin Day at Bourne Farm in a few weeks.

I finally found my camera(again) so I took some pictures of my work so you don't think I was sleeping all weekend-LOL Right!

Walk From Obesity

----------------->

I am sending a reminder beg!!

I want to reach a goal of $500. I will be walking on Sunday September 27th so that leaves just 2 weeks.

Can you spare a few cents??

If so follow the links to you right and make a donation. We are also looking for more team members to join us. If you can spare a few hours come to Lowell, it will be fun. We could use some cheerleaders.

9/11

Todays News

1st of all the Redneck NASCAR people left today in a parade of campers. WOOHOO!!

What does that mean??

We are men free until Monday. We have big plans I tell you. They include yard sales, parties( 1yo frilly girl party) and possibly a cook out. That is so far we could get wild you know we have 4 whole days without Dad's big booming voice. I think we are too busy for the Pirate thing now.

Oh I almost forgot- Raiden, Olivia and I are running in the Falmouth Mile on Sunday. Come and join us it is great fun and ends at Surf Drive Beach.

I have been doing pretty good on the food front and have brought some good stuff tonight to try to keep me on track.

Today I walked to Gramma's house and back to wish the campers off-4.66 miles. I have been logging my walks/runs on Map my Walk and am trying to get back to Daily Plate to log food and exercise. The thing is there are no options for a crazy bird like myself. I put 2 kids 40 and 25 lbs in the double stroller and then put a 25lb kid in a backpack for this walk. Why is it when you look up walking with a stroller they make it sound like a leisurely stroll?? This was far from a leisurely stroll. I was sweating and my legs freaking hurt like when I ran the road race. There is also no option for jogging with a stroller. They do list running with a wheelchair and that seems a bit more out of the ordinary than stroller folks. Next time I think I will choose that.

Picture these two together and me not smiling as much-LOL!!

2nd day of starve-fest

Ok, so I am not liquid only but mostly. I am already feeling better. I am still a bit tired but that is a complication of my life which runs from about 6:30am until 1am. At least it is a consistant tired and not the highs and lows of when I am eating the carbs.
I have had not had a low sugar issue in the last 2 days. I do still crave carbs terribly so I am eating food again but only cheese, meat and fruit in small quantities.
I have upped the water also.
I had a low of about 29 over a week ago. I then went out on Sunday and had no sugar but shared some Cheetos( I know, I know) with the kids. I think this may have been because I hadn't eaten anything BUT the Cheetos but about an hour later I started to feel it going down. I tested and was already down to 67. This is the first crash I have experienced without previously eating a high sugar item so things are changing and not for the better.
I have asked my Doctor and he just told me that this usually happens after a fasting period and not after eating a sugary food so I should just try to stay eating the basics( protein first) and eat more frequently. Gee Thanks for nothing.

The Next Mr. Fooseberry

I am starving!!!

As an admitted crackhead-sugar addict I am constantly on the lookout for ways to get the goods.
BTW a sale on THE BEST dark chocolate covered cashews this week at CVS. Thank You Terry for introducing me to them. They are only $3.99 this week.
Anyway I have been rambling on and on about getting my shit together so here I am.
I am on a liquid diet today and I am starving. I am working the blender though. My reserves for making different shakes is kind of low so I have been using my imagination.
Breakfast - PB&J shake with soy milk
During my walk- Muscle Milk RTD chocolate malt
Lunch- Chocolate with frozen raspberries and a raspberry yogurt- Yummo!
Afternoon snack- Cup of split pea soup ( never had it before but anything tastes good right now)
I have packed a few more of my fav's like a Chai tea with nutneg and a chocolate/PB/banana.
I've got to get off this carb-sugar trip I am on and I am hoping this does the trick.
I also walked with the kiddies in the stroller for an hour before the rain came.

So bare with me it is sure to get bitchy in here in the next few days. Day 1 no candy......

Now that didn't last.

I have had 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with 1/2 cup no sugar added fruit on top.

And a small ww pita with about 2 ounces of swiss melted inside.

Then my sister bitches about a Gold Fever wrap. I would sell my soul for a gold fever wing right now.

Caleb Graduated

Caleb graduated tonight. He did great. He now has a degree but I am unsure if he knows what to do with it.

I also found out that the food grabbing issue that we are now working on may be a nutrition problem. We need to go more natural now. My crunchy organic friends will like that. I am actually meeting with a dog nutrionist tomorrow about info on a raw diet.

I am a little worried about that so we will see if we can find a happy medium.

He also passed his Canine Good Citizen test this weekend. We now have to send in the paperwork to AKC to register him and he can wear this tag to show what a good man he is.

Late Update- 1st Day of School

Late info as I have been too busy.
The first picture is the 1st paperwork day which was 30 minutes and then we went home. She brought naked Barbie which I didn't notice until we were already in school. Mother of the year award please.

Now for the REAL 1st day. Mom was a sucker and only got a couple of pictures because I was trying not to cry and freak her out. She got on that bus and never looked back.

She is doing fine (and so am I now). The new clothes that are a little too big as we try to get stuff that will fit thru the year is just killing me too.

Happy Halloween!!!

I know this is early but I think I might actually have a place to go for Halloween.

What do you think?? Have any suggestions? I was thinking Strawberry Shortcake but most women's costumes look like street walkers.
I do love Scooby Doo.
This is Daphne in case you are from a cave or something.

Vomit Sucks

Just when I thought I would tuck in the kids and get some shut eye....Right!

I go in to tuck in the kids and I feel the leg of my baby to see if she was cool and needed a blanket and she is burning up. I look closer and see she is sleeping in her own vomit....Yummy.

So much fun at 1am to strip beds and get her cleaned up. She was boiling so I medicated her and tucked her into my armpit and she fell back asleep.

Today she was a clingy, whiney ball of sweat. She screamed and cried "Burger" for 10 minutes at me after I threw her dinner away because she wasn't eating.

She is in bed now and I am hoping she can make it through the night. The fever seemed to come back everytime the Tylenol wore off.

She is a tough cookie so I hope she kicks this fast.
